The Poweshiek County Mental Health Center is a private non-profit organization accredited by the State of Iowa and recognized by Poweshiek County as the community mental health center for the county.
The center is a multi-disciplinary group of mental health professionals working together to provide the help that our clients need. Our team includes a psychiatrist, physician assistant, psychiatric nurse, psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, community support workers, and administrative assistants.
We not only serve Poweshiek County and the surrounding area in our facility, staff are also sent out to nursing homes, schools, Head Start, and onto the Grinnell College campus for therapy and medication management.
The PCMHC is a non-profit organization that aims to provide mental health services with compassion and professional competence in order to enhance the quality of life and promote the overall well-being of our residents, students and communities. As part of our commitment to the well-being of our community, the PCMHC prides itself on providing these quality services to all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay.
Much of the funding for the Center comes from insurance carriers, the government, contracts with other agencies, and grants that we write. However, because we are committed to provide services to all in need, there are times when service costs are not reimbursed by any funding source to which we have access. Consequently, your financial assistance is appreciated in order to continue our commitment to meet the mental health needs of all county residents.
This year, your tax deductible contribution will help us:
• Provide services to over 2000 people county-wide, half of whom are children.
• Provide onsite mental health services to nursing homes, schools, and Head Start
• Maintain a 24 hour emergency hotline managed by a mental health professional, to counsel and provide emergency help.
• Update and upgrade our facilities, including increased handicap accessibility, a warmer and more inviting office space, and a new computer system.
• Offer group therapy, marriage counseling, family therapy, and individual counseling, and operations at the Station Clubhouse (aiding those with a severe and persistent mental illness)
• Maintaining this website
Thank you for supporting the Center, as we strive to support the Poweshiek County community.
